Moscow, March 15 (Interfax) – The Russian agriculture watchdog, Rosselkhoznadzor, is sending the EU the numbers of companies, which could have supplied horsemeat to Russian producers.

“We are sending the EU the numbers of enterprises, from which we receive meat, these are mainly Spain and Germany,” Rosselkhoznadzor head Sergei Dankvert told Interfax by telephone.

Dankvert said that Spain and Germany were considered to have supplied the horsemeat, which was later found in products labeled by Mortadel and Klin meat factory. France could have exported horsemeat, which was later found in sausages produced by another Russian enterprise, Meat Processing Factory Remit.

Dankvert said that the present situation had arisen due to the fact that the EU had no system to track products to control quality from raw to ready products. “Our experts are completing the inspection of Spanish enterprises today, and they have questions on the issue,” the official said. “Besides, we have banned exports of meat products from three German states due to inability to track long before the scandal.”

It has been reported that the ban was introduced to meat and diary enterprises of Bavaria, Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia on February 11.
